The Worm That Cares

The online ecosystem has a new beastie.

A worm has turned up and it seems to be trying to clean up the mess left by msblaster. The worm (W32/Nachi) installs itself on your machine and then tries to download the patch for the Microsoft Windows DCOM RPC vulnerability.

Could the 'net be evolving an immune system? I kinda like the idea, but I can see a big debate about this brewing. Is there a justification for releasing beneficial worms? Isn't it just another facet of smart software agents?
