They've launched it. IM and voice chat via the googlenet and your gmail account.

Currently they only have a Windows client available, but as the system runs on Jabber (open standards++) you can use any Jabber enabled client to connect. Adium is my first choice (the best IM client on the Mac full stop) but Google have instructions available for other clients.
