The Labia & Creative Commons
It’s odd the influences that lead you to do things.
I’m not going to go into the whole Creative Commons thing here, that’s what links are for, so go have a read for yourself. Anyway, it’s something I’ve been thinking of on and off applying to this site since Creative Commons was launched in 2001, and the labia piece has inspired me to actually get round to it.
So, from now on, all works on this site, created by me, are licensed under the Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike license. I say by me, because at some point in the not too distant future there will be multiple authors (hi Giles!) and it will be up to them to decide their licensing.
The license I’ve decided to go with means the following:
- The licensor permits others to copy, distribute, display, and perform the work. In return, licensees must give the original author credit.
- The licensor permits others to copy, distribute, display, and perform the work. In return, licensees may not use the work for commercial purposes — unless they get the licensor’s permission.
- Share Alike
- The licensor permits others to distribute derivative works only under a license identical to the one that governs the licensor’s work.
That’s kinda the Cliff Notes version, you might want to read the full license for the technicalities. Of course, this is all acedemic if no-one wants to use anything from here, probably not this drivel, but there are a few things in the photography section that might be of interest.
We’ll see how it goes…
