Well it looks like BBC News has had a bit of a facelift. Gone are the font tags, but we still have a maze of nested tables. Content pages are 30% wider, but the summary pages have less information on them so it’s more difficult to scan for news that interests you.
I’m not entirely sure whether I like this half-arsed makeover. As John said "they broke it for NN4 yet kept the tables". So what was the point of that? The explanations on the Q&A section seem to revolve around the stock answer of ‘if you don’t like it then read the low graphics version’.
I’ve got a lot of time for the BBC web teams, and the BBC News site is one of those places I will visit three or four times a day, so maybe I’ll get used to it. But first impressions, I have to say I’m a little disappointed.
